Club Captain 2022

Dear Members, Guests & Visitors

It’s a great honour and privilege for me to be the Captain of Wanstead Golf Club for 2022. I am very much looking forward to the year and to meeting as many members as I can over the coming months, as well as welcoming new members and visitors to the club in what I am sure will be a fantastic year.

One thing I know about the members of Wanstead is that we are all truly passionate about golf and care deeply about making the club and course the most enjoyable place to play golf. This is what sets us apart from clubs within the area and is something we can all be very proud of, I am sure this passion for our club will continue long into the future.

My chosen Captain’s charity is Leukaemia UK which is a charity very close to my heart. The charity funds ground-breaking research and care for those affected by leukaemia and other blood cancers and is an extremely worthwhile cause as I am sure you will agree. Every pound donated makes a difference, so your generous support will be very much appreciated throughout the year and I would like to thank you all for this support in advance.

I would like to thank all members, the board of directors and the staff of Wanstead Golf Club for their upcoming support this year and wish everyone who comes to Wanstead the very best of golfing luck!

Women's Captain 2022

Dear Members Guests and Visitors.

We warmly welcome all women and girls at Wanstead, from complete beginners to experienced players, with opportunities to play in both competitive and friendly games and matches. We are particularly proud of the diversity of the women’s section of the club.

Our main day to meet and play with other women is Sunday, allowing all our working women members full access to the competitive golfing season. Further competitions are played on Wednesdays and there are a number of mixed competitions through the year, which are very well supported. We run friendly ‘roll-up’ events during the winter on Sundays and Wednesdays and there is a mixed society on Saturday mornings.

Our aim is to provide a friendly and welcoming environment for all women and girls, encouraging more women to enjoy the game of golf. We have an active scheme for complete beginners of all ages with support from our Club Professional and more experienced players. With current handicaps ranging from 2.7 to 54, we have members of all abilities.

We currently take part in the Harris Bowl county tournament and encourage our members to enter other Essex county competitions.
Wanstead is a proud promotor and signatory of the Women in Golf Charter and is committed to the principles of equality and diversity throughout its workforce, membership base and customers.

Junior Captain 2022

Dear Members,Guests and Vistors.

I feel thrilled to be junior captain of 2022 and I hope to see the junior section grow this year as we welcome more members into our team. It has been amazing to see our junior section grow so much from us struggling to get a team 4 years ago then winning the 2019 handicap youth shield shortly after. Any players wanting to start up the game is always welcome with open arms as we support one other with the utmost respect and work together as a team in the junior section. Being a member for 4 years has been a pleasure as I have watched players go from up to a 36 handicap down to single digits and slowly gained more confidence in their game along the way. Golfing gives you so many opportunities and it’s never too late to start the game no matter how old you are.

A big thank you to board of directors, members and staff for always being so supportive of the juniors from when we first took up the game and all the support along the way. Wishing everyone the best of luck in the new upcoming competition season this year.
